Geckota simply grew from a hobby. Back in 2010, our director Jon Quinn collected, studied and enjoyed watches in his spare time. He was an avid watch geek which led to an idea: to sell watches and watch straps to like-minded enthusiasts.
Fast forward a few years to 2012 and trading under Geckota Limited, Jon started developing his own watches and watch straps. This meant he had full control over the design, materials, specifications, movements and most importantly, a carefully considered price point.
In 2017, our core business standards and vision are still at the heart of all we do. Our ambition is as strong as ever and we are excited to announce that the next step of our journey is into the world of Kickstarter.
After success with recent models from our Geckota range, now is the right time for us to make our first luxury watch. The D1 is an automatic, luxury, diver's timepiece, inspired by history – designed by perfectionists.
Our inspiration came from classic diving watches dating back to the 1950s and 60s. We wanted to offer a quality-made diver’s timepiece that draws on the exquisite elements of classic tool watches from the past while retaining our own stylish aspects of originality.
The sampling stages of our watch were developed from customer feedback and will continue to be crucial to our future. We believe that Kickstarter is the perfect platform to launch the D1 as direct interaction with our consumers will enable them to be an integral part of our journey.
Every small detail about this new timepiece has been a carefully considered, thought out choice made by the Geckota team.
These details include a quality high beat movement, an eye catching enamel sandwich dial, a well crafted 120 click stainless steel bezel with aluminium insert.
We know all of these details and more, results in a practical, luxury diver's timepiece, inspired by history – designed by perfectionists.
