The New Geckota Racing Chronograph Range

With the usual Geckota ‘twist’. We’ve combined a subtly interpreted and enhanced aesthetic with a proven hybrid meca-quartz movement. The result has the accuracy of quartz but the look and feel of expensive mechanical chronograph movements. Available exclusively at WatchGecko

Meca-Quartz Movement

The new Geckota Racing Chronograph is powered by Seiko’s meca-quartz VK64 movement. This tried-and-tested hybrid movement combines the accuracy of quartz with the look and feel of an expensive mechanical chronograph movement – including that all-important ‘pusher click’ and the instant reset of the flyback chronograph hand.

Flat Sapphire Crystal

The Racing Chronograph is available in three distinctive colour versions of the classic chronograph dial with its double-registers, 400 unit-per-hour tachymeter and six o’clock date window. Each dial is set off beautifully by its mirror-polished bezel. And the scratch resistance needed for a busy life is enhanced by the flat sapphire crystal with its anti-reflective (AR) coating.

Detailed Finish

As ever, attention to detail and subtly enhancing the original 1960s design was important as we designed your Racing Chronograph. So we polished the bezel and used multiple finishes on the watch case. Contrasting with the highly reflective bezel, there’s the flat brushed upper surface face of the case with its sun ray effect. Then there’s the polished chamfered case edge and clean vertical brush grain around the watch's outside faces.

Racing History

Some 50 years ago, pit lanes at circuits such as Le Mans, the Nurburgring and Monaco were packed with team officials poring over Heuer’s, Zeniths and Rolex Daytonas as the likes of Jochen Rindt, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart diced wheel-to-wheel for victory.

The days of using hand-held analogue chronographs in top-level motor sport may have gone with the arrival of super-accurate computerised timing systems and sophisticated telemetry. But when you wear your Geckota Racing Chronograph it’s easy to shut your eyes and imagine yourself back to that golden era of motor racing.
