Taking inspiration from the classically proportioned 36mm Rolex Datejust, our E-01 was first produced in 2018 and conceived as a kind of antidote to the oversized watches that were en vogue at the time. In fact, you could say we were one of the first watch companies to buck the trend and show the world that bigger isn’t always best!

Although the proportions of the E-01 give a nod to watches such as the Datejust and vintage watches, in terms of style the watch is our own take on what a modern sport watch should be, but with one eye very much on the space age design that we established in our first watch, the original G-01.
The overall design is aimed at watch fans looking for a versatile everyday wearer which is equally at home at the office, out on the town or at the beach.
The stunning brushed blue gradient dial of the Geckota E-01 - Image Credit: GeckotaPerhaps the star of the show is the stunning dial. It’s safe to say that our designers certainly didn’t settle for ordinary or easy to manufacture!
You can choose between an on-trend vertically brushed green dial with fumé effect (a gradient of colour that is lighter towards the centre) or a vertically brushed blue dial, also with fumé effect. Whichever colour you opt for you can be assured that the unique dials really do add another dimension to the watch. They bring a level of sophistication and detail that is difficult to capture in photos.
The Geckota E-01 Green - Image Credit: GeckotaThe stylistic hour hand continues the design language first seen in our G-01 space age watch, but the minute hand is less ornate and more modern. A gently sweeping seconds hand with elongated rhombus shaped lume section completes the package. All hands feature lumed sections for ultimate legibility in low light. The elongated baton-shaped indices are all applied and bring added depth to the dial.
The slim case (sub 12mm) features a mix of finishes. The top of the case is brushed with a chamfered polished edge that runs the entire length. The rest of the case is polished.
Crown guards protect the crown and stem from damage caused by knocks. Lug width is 20mm, so it’s easy to find aftermarket straps to fit.
The gorgeous double domed sapphire of the Geckota E-01 Blue - Image Credit: GeckotaAs is befitting on a premium watch, we’ve opted for a sapphire crystal for peace of mind against scratches and dreaded door-frame knocks! Its double domed design brings extra visual interest to the face of the watch and the anti-reflective coating helps to minimise unwanted reflections.
The E-01 gives you all of the essentials – hours, minutes, and hacking seconds (allowing the precise time to be set against a reference) - whilst keeping the dial clean and uncomplicated, crucial for watches with smaller dials. A framed date window at 3 o’clock completes the package.
The versatile E-01 is certainly not a watch you need to ‘baby’ as it has an impressive water resistance of 100m thanks to its screw-down crown and durable gaskets, more than enough for when you want to leave the comfort of your sun-lounger for a swim or a bit of snorkelling.
Our E-01 is one of the smallest watches in our current line-up, but despite its diminutive proportions, it is not without wrist presence. This is thanks to a winning combination of the crystal choice and the considerable thought that we put into getting the balance of case diameter, lug length and overall thickness just right.
The result is a watch that will suit a wide range of wrist sizes, making it the perfect watch for sharing amongst family or watch-geek friends!
The Geckota E-01 Blue on Stainless Steel Warrington Bracelet - Image Credit: GeckotaIt’s fitted with our Warrington stainless steel premium jubilee bracelet available, available in either an all-brushed finish, or a combination of brushed and polished finishes. The flexibility and comfort level has to be experienced to fully appreciate it. We’ve also recently improved the bracelet (February 2021) by giving it solid end links for a more solid feel and secure fit. The small individual links of the jubilee combined with two micro-adjustments on the signed push-button clasp means it should be a sinch to achieve the perfect fit.
With its 20mm lug width, the E-01 is an absolute strap-monster too! It's versatility will suit a wide variety of straps and it looks particularly good on vintage style leather such as the Highley pictured above.
The E-01 uses the Miyota 9015 movement, a highly reliable and accurate movement from respected Japanese company Miyota (a subsidiary of Citizen Watch Group). This well-proven movement, visible through the sapphire case back, is generally considered to be the Japanese equivalent to the Swiss ETA 2824. Its relatively slim profile allows us to keep the thickness of the watch’s case reasonable.
The Miyota 9015 automatic movement has a power reserve of 42 hours and gives a lovely smooth sweep of the seconds hand thanks to its 28,800 VPH beat rate – something synonymous with premium mechanical watches.
