First introduced in early 2017, the Geckota Racing Chronograph is our first watch to take inspiration from the late 1960s to early 1970s classic chronograph watches.

The Geckota Racing Chronograph Range

The Geckota Racing Chronograph is currently available in three iconic dial options. This versatile chronograph combines the best of two time periods. The design and styling from the 1950s and 60s, with modern day technology and reliability.

Racing Heritage

Some 50 years ago, pit lanes at circuits such as Le Mans, the Nurburgring and Monaco were packed with team officials poring over Heuer’s, Zeniths and Rolex Daytonas as the likes of Jochen Rindt, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart diced wheel-to-wheel for victory.

The days of using hand-held analogue chronographs in top-level motor sport may have gone with the arrival of super-accurate computerised timing systems and sophisticated telemetry. With the arrival of the Geckota Racing Chronograph, it’s easy to shut your eyes and imagine yourself back to that golden era of motor racing.

An eye for detail

At Geckota we understand the importance of attention to detail. The little things matter. The Racing Chronograph is no exception to this rule as it features many subtle design features which when combined, make for an important addition to our range. We wanted to make the C1 stand out from other chronographs. This is why the C1 comes with highly polished hour markers. Combined with the chamfered styling and applied aspect, the indices and polished hands are one of the first things that you notice.

Staying with the dial, the sub-dials on the C1 have an understated sunburst effect to them which makes using the 24-hour dial and tracking elapsed minutes that little bit more enjoyable.

Finally, the case. We fully polished the cushion style case and balanced this out by adding a sunburst brushing effect, giving it that vintage tool watch feeling. Other key details include Geckota 'G' signed crown with drilled lugs, perfect for a strap changing watch enthusiast!

Modern day reliability

The new Geckota Racing Chronograph is powered by Seiko’s meca-quartz VK64 movement. This tried-and-tested hybrid movement combines the accuracy of quartz with the look and feel of an expensive mechanical chronograph movement – including that all-important ‘pusher click’ and the instant reset of the flyback chronograph hand.

Finally, the watch also comes with other features which are regularly taken for granted when worn on modern days wrist including quick set date and screw in crown.

Timeless variations

The Racing Chronograph is available in three distinctive colour versions of the classic chronograph dial with its double-registers, 400 unit-per-hour tachymeter and six o’clock date window. Each dial is set off beautifully by its mirror-polished bezel. The scratch resistance needed for a busy life is enhanced by the flat sapphire crystal with its anti-reflective (AR) coating.
