The new Midnight Sky Pioneer is the pinnacle of simplicity and elegance with a plain dark dial embellished with blue, white and metallic glistening star constellations. We have taken the space-age design of the Pioneer case and, for the first time, reflected deep space in the dial.

The dial is made from Aventurine, sometimes known as goldstone. Aventurine is a form of glass made with copper oxide, silica, and other components. Part of the Aventurine manufacturing process involves cooling, producing this speckled effect on a deep blue backdrop. This naturally looks like the deepest and most star-filled night sky.

Set against the universe dial are two gold sword hands equipped with Super Luminova. They are in our distinctive design and stand proud of the dial, giving the watch a multi-layer look. The gold is also accented on the brand name and carried around to the fixed bezel and screw-down crown.

Like all models in the Pioneer range, the Midnight Sky embraces a 1960s case style, although this design is in a new contemporary 39mm size; transcending across all wearers. The watch is protected with a sapphire crystal lens, which is domed and equipped with an anti-reflective coating. This is an important detail when the watch has such a dark and compelling dial.

On this reduced 39mm model, the robust quality of larger Pioneers remains with a marine grade 316L stainless steel case and 100M water resistance. Whilst you may not want to dive in this stunning watch, it is good to know that behind the beautiful exterior, there is an ultra-reliable machine that will never let you down. The watch is only 11mm high, including the sapphire crystal and has a lug to lug of just 46.5mm so it will suit anyone.

Unlike other Pioneers, we consciously decided to power the Midnight Sky with a quartz movement. A hi-tech movement seemed appropriate in such a watch, which embraces space. Hence the model is fitted with a Ronda 712 two-hand module. This robust power source is 26mm in diameter and just 2.5mm thick. It requires a 371 (SR920SW) battery and should deliver 60 months of battery life. It has five jewels and is accurate to -10/+20 seconds per month up to 50 degrees Celsius. A hacking function is fitted and Ronda claims that, when activated, perhaps in storage, this will reduce battery drain by 70%.

The watch is supplied on a grey Geckota Stanway suede leather strap. The epitome of timeless elegance, the Stanway is crafted for those who desire a touch of luxury. The stitching is meticulously executed, employing an off-white thread for a subtle contrast. Delicate double stitches grace the lug ends and secure the buckle, while a tasteful v-stitch detail adds a touch of finesse at the tail end.
