True explorers don’t let the weather deter them from adventure, even when winter transforms the world into a frozen wonderland. The quietness of the freezing landscapes deserves to be punctuated by the soft crunch of boots on frozen grounds and freshly fallen snow. Inspired by the notion of winter exploration, we are excited to introduce two new frost-inspired designs to our best-selling Ocean-Scout collection.

For the first time, our adventurer’s watch is paired with a textured dial in ice white or Frost. The finish is inspired by the look of frost on glass and the top surface of freshly fallen snow. In the same way, delicate, lacy patterns of ice crystals form a complex mosaic in winter, these dials present intricate strokes along the legible surfaces for an added touch of elegance and mystery.

The Geckota Ocean-Scout Ice White presents a pure white, textured display that contrasts brilliantly against its black-outlined markers and black unidirectional bezel. Meanwhile, the dial of the Geckota Ocean-Scout Frost is finished in a crisp pastel blue hue that turns to off-white at an angle.

The Geckota Ocean-Scout Frost model also debuts our first ever steel insert bezel for the adventurous Ocean-Scout. The brushed finish of the unidirectional bezel contrasts brilliantly to the polished surfaces of the steel case, still ensuring effortless legibility with a white engraved diver’s scale and luminous pip at 12 o’clock.

Pairing perfectly with the crispness of the two new dials, the cases of the new Geckota Ocean-Scout Ice watches are machined from 316L marine-grade stainless steel with a combination of polished and brushed finishing. Like before, the lack of crown guards enhances the vintage aesthetic and brings to life some of the great dive watches from the 1960’s. Box crystal glass sits above the dials and the knurled screw down crown and compass-engraved case back deliver a water resistance of 200 metres.

The dials maintain the classic 3, 6, 9 layout with large, black-outlined baton indexes and strong sword-shaped hands generously adorned with BGW9 Superluminova. This specific compound of luminescence remains stark white in daylight, joining in with the rest of the ice-inspired finish, but offsets perfectly in the dark with a rich blue glow.

We trust the premium automatic winding Miyota 9039 movement to power our entire Geckota Ocean-Scout line, keeping the cases slim and compact at 11.8mm tall and 38.5mm wide. The Japanese unit has 24 jewels, vibrates at 28,800 beats per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve. Since this is a watch built for adventures on land and water, the movement is equipped with a Parashock anti-shock system.
